The Missing Link - Missing No More

"This is the first link to all humans," Hurum, of the Natural History Museum in Oslo, Norway, said in a statement. Ida represents "the closest thing we can get to a direct ancestor."
-Click the title for a link to The Link
This is very exciting and rewrites history books, It's so rare to find a complete fossil and in Ida's case, scientists were able to examine fossil evidence of fur and soft tissue and even picked through the remains of her last meal: fruits, seeds, and leaves. Stay tuned this could get very interesting. Yeah Science!!

Oh my goodness! I feel like they've found my long lost bestest friend! Um... no.

Funny, Most of the articles aren't disputing the fossil but stating that more research on it needs to be done and published which I agree with and 3 of the articles quote Dr. Chris Beard which seems to be an attempt to make this look legit. Listen I'm not interested in converting you or anyone else from their fairytails and myths (Drink all the koolaid you want) because science deals in facts I tend to get excited about new discoveries. EXAMPLE: The Flat Earth society still "believes" the earth is flat even though the evidence is overwhelming that it's not so why would I expect a Christian to "think" anything other than the fables spewed from the bible. Only Fiction is threatened by Facts! - Thanks tho sweety:)

My beliefs are the Bible is not full of fables, but true stories and experiences of people who lived long ago. I lived and studied in the Holy Land as a college student and had amazing experiences there. I don't expect everyone to understand my beliefs, but I can tell you not everything can be explained by science. (:

Julie!! Yeah!! Okay, Everything can’t be explained by science I agree with you there but that doesn't by default relegate us to acting out rituals passed down by people who had a far narrower view of the cosmos, but I don’t care about god’s as I said in my previous post this is about science “Truth” this discovery threatens the fairy tails of religion because it is the truth and now your god leaders will have to come up with a divine vision that includes this fossil because this fossil is real and there is no denying it unless you believe the earth is flat, besides as far as I’m concerned evolution offers a far richer and more spectacular vision than any religion or any god.

The Earth is not flat! http://www.alaska.net/~clund/e_djublonskopf/Flatearthsociety.htm

Answers in Genesis!! I thought I would check out the this reference site and realized that this isn't a science site at the the "CEO" wrote the bestseller, The Lie: Evolution. The whole site is twisted truths and propaganda, sort of a poor mans Fox News! Maybe we should use a "REAL" science journal to discuss this topic. I would suggest:http://www.sciencedaily.com/ or http://www.livescience.com/

I love how both sides of these kinds of debates always resort to "Oh my goodness! Your source is biased!" Not really.

Everyone's source is gonna be biased, so let's not go there. Let's just look at the fact (you like facts, and I watched most of "The Link" on the History Channel last night which is where I found this out) -the only reason they think it is "The missing link" is because it has a talus bone. Horses have talus bones. They also said on "The Link" that "we are all animals". There go our human rights and dignity. If we are just animals, then anything goes. Hey, why don't we humans just eat each other?

I could go on and on about the flaws with evolution:
1: Where on earth did millions of different varieties of plants/trees come from? They couldn't have come from a bacterium.

2: Material for life doesn't equal life. If I squish a spider, it's dead. It has all the material for life, but it isn't alive. A bunch of different amino acids don't equal life.

3: No scientists have been able to re-create what they think happened to start the world. And if they did, it would just prove creationists arguments: it needs intelligent design.

3: How on earth did an asexually reproducing bacterium evolve into millions of different things that reproduce several different ways? It didn't. Because mutations definitely didn't do it.

4: Since when did a big explosion create something other than destruction? I want the kind of dynamite that can build houses and planets and stars and everything!

We are animals and some humans did eat each other they are called Cannibals

I could go on and on about the flaws with evolution:
1: Where on earth did millions of different varieties of plants/trees come from? They couldn't have come from a bacterium: To the best of our knowledge they did, star dust but it's not consulsive which leave a sliver of wiggle room for ghost and fairies.

2: Material for life doesn't equal life. If I squish a spider, it's dead. It has all the material for life, but it isn't alive. A bunch of different amino acids don't equal life. - So am I to assume based off this your for stem cell research? :). I don't know that people will ever agree on a definition of when life begins or what life is.

3: No scientists have been able to re-create what they think happened to start the world. And if they did, it would just prove creationists arguments: it needs intelligent design.-Scientist are actually close to recreating the big bang in Cern Switzerland http://public.web.cern.ch/public/
"There are no gods"

3: How on earth did an asexually reproducing bacterium evolve into millions of different things that reproduce several different ways? It didn't. Because mutations definitely didn't do it. - Scale, it's hard for religious people to comprehend scale, Humans have been on this planet in our current form for only 100,000 years, the earth is 4,500,000,000 years old.
(Do you really believe the earth is 6,000 years old?)

4: Since when did a big explosion create something other than destruction? I want the kind of dynamite that can build houses and planets and stars and everything! -Haha very funny, space is expanding and once again we don't have all the answers and that leaves loopholes for people that believe in gods because they can say "God did it if it's positive and Satan did it if it's negitive"

Once again the only thing that Facts (Science) threaten is Fiction and the believe in gods for the most part is fiction thats why this discovery is so scary for god people.

P.S. your an atheist BTW you don't believe in Thor! or Zeus or MUGA MUGA

Of course I know there is such a thing as a cannibal. But if we are animals, there is nothing wrong with cannibals, and human rights don't exist. Under that philosophy, anything goes. There should be no laws because there is no reason for laws under that philosophy.

None of the "answers" answered my questions, so I won't respond to them. Except for #3: Again, if they recreate the big bang, that proves intelligent design is needed. Also, they would have to have life result. The Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings were, "big bangs". Big destructive ones that destroyed life. Well, ok, I have to respond to the stem cell thing, which essentially addresses babies in their mother's wombs. Those babies aren't "material" for life. They're not just amino acids. They are living human beings.

Science doesn't disprove God. And quite a few of the worlds famous scientists were Christians.

I find it interesting that you believe in ghosts, aliens, and fairies, yet you deny God. How ironic...

You also didn't address this:
Everyone's source is gonna be biased, so let's not go there. Let's just look at the fact (you like facts, and I watched most of "The Link" on the History Channel last night which is where I found this out) -the only reason they think it is "The missing link" is because it has a talus bone. About the "P.S. You're an atheist" thing, an atheist is (according to Mirriam-Webster)"One who believes that there is no deity". I do not say "there is no deity"

Also, what do you think of Hitler, Stalin, eugenics, and racism? The thing that proves that they are wrong is the Holy Bible. (I know you're going to say that the Bible talks about killing people. And it does, because there is a value hierarchy. If someone violates someone's human rights and dignity, that individual no longer has human rights and dignity.)

Hannah- I'd have to respond via email arnsworths@msn.com this is to hard to follow up with. Religion is our first, and worst, attempt at philosophy.
